Located at the heart of the Castle River Valley, Coldwater City has been an important industrial hub for decades. Although the city has suffered lots of economic hardship that accompanies the decline of industry, it has many grand institutions such as the National Infrastructure Museum, the Armory, and the Municipal Bank Arena. The city was founded at the confluence of the Castle and Red Bank rivers, and a grand square, Olympic Square, would be created with City Hall in its center. This area would become Old Town, now home to a variety of historic streets and buildings. As the city's population grew, its center expanded westward along Civic Mile, leading to the construction of Civic Mile Station. As more white collar jobs came to the city, a business district developed around Vargas Square, and the modern skyscrapers in the city seen today surround the area. Eventually, the city's development would meander back towards its roots near the river junction, and Medical Center Station would be built to serve the growing districts around it. The city's east side is now a hub for medicine, design, and many other fields that are growing by the day. Outside the city center, the city's north side neighborhoods such as Bastille Square, Maguire Park, and Truman have faced significant economic challenges. The area has faced lots of disinvestment over the years, although the recently-built Metro has connected it to greater opportunity in the city center. Along with the city center, key hubs of both transportation and culture include Hollywood City, Walnut St, and Coldwater City International Airport, connecting different parts of the city with one another and beyond.
